Use the program’s qualification currency

Our verified presets cover Delta MQDs and Atmos status points. These are not interchangeable with redeemable miles or ordinary ticket totals. United’s detailed live qualification page could not be independently text-verified at the time of review, so its planner uses a custom-target workflow rather than publishing a guessed threshold.

Evaluate a route network before a badge

Choose the airports, schedules and nonstop options you use. Then ask which status benefits change those trips. A high tier in a poorly matched network can add connection time and cost while delivering perks you rarely use.

Separate guaranteed benefits from availability-based ones. Lounge access, upgrades and baggage allowances can depend on fare, operator, route and card enrollment. Verify your actual itinerary rather than assuming a tier badge includes every benefit.

Calculate the incremental chase cost

Compare the trips you would book anyway with the extra activity needed solely for status. Include fares, fees, positioning, hotels and your time. Estimate only next-tier value beyond perks you already hold.

Illustrative case: a status run costs $450 and the remaining expected benefits total $250. Even if it earns redeemable points worth $60 under your estimate, the incremental plan remains $140 negative. A badge can have personal value, but label that separately from savings.

Keep a qualification record

Enter posted and planned activity separately in the planner, save a named plan, and review after each trip. The result is an estimate. The airline’s own account determines qualification and any special requirements.
